How do I work out Averages?

Working out averages is one of the most simple things to do in math, other than addition and subtraction of course.  Working out averages is a good thing and can come in quite handy in a lot of situations. You never know when you might need to work out an average.

The basic formula is this: you take the sum of the numbers you want to find the average of and divide that by the amount of numbers you just added up.

Example:
Lets find the average of these 10 numbers:

958
48
6
22
100
498
10000
3
79

If we add all of these 1o numbers together, we get 11,722

So we then take that number divided by 10 ( because that is how many numbers we added up) and we get 1,172.2.

So there you have it, we worked out the average of ten numbers. This same formula can be applied to any amount of numbers. Next time you ask How do I work out averages? You will know.
